The man allegedly forced another man into a vehicle against his will during the initial disturbance on Anne Street, resulting in a deprivation of liberty charge.

He spent the remainder of Christmas Day in custody after being taken to the Southport watch house.

The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Friday morning, where he could also face additional charges.

The are expected to include wilful damage, unlawful possession of explosive material, keeping a declared animal and going armed as to cause fear.
