Qld has biggest fall in state unemployment

Queensland's 0.7 percentage point decrease in unemployment was the biggest fall across the states, according to the latest jobs data.

Queensland's unemployment rate fell further than that of any other state in December.

The latest jobs data puts Queensland's unemployment rate for the final month of 2014 at 6.1 per cent, compared to 6.8 per cent in November.

The 0.7 percentage point decrease means 22,500 Queenslanders found work last month.

It was the biggest fall in unemployment across the states, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' seasonally adjusted figures released on Thursday.

The state with the next biggest drop was Victoria, which was down 0.3 percentage points to 6.5 per cent.
