Would-be premier Annastacia Palaszczuk believes Labor should form government in Queensland after gaining the support of a key crossbencher.

Ms Palaszczuk has declared her gratitude for independent MP Peter Wellington's decision to back Labor in forming a minority government on the condition she is the leader.

"Labor is still hopeful that we can form government in our own right," she said.

"I'm extremely humbled by the support that Peter Wellington has shown to me and to the Labor party.

"I have known Peter for many years. He's a man of integrity and has always stood up for what is right in the Queensland parliament."

Ms Palaszczuk denied she had made any deals with Mr Wellington to secure his support, but said they had similar views about government integrity and transparency.

"There is no deal. I have been in discussion with Peter over the last three years about matters of integrity and accountability," she said.

"Everybody has heard me speak in parliament, and Peter Wellington, about making sure we have an independent chair of the anti-corruption watchdog.

"We've spoken at length about the changes of the electoral donation laws so we no longer have secret donations to the government of the day."

She said they had also discussed implementing real-time disclosure, where donations were put up on the party's website as soon as they were received.

The Labor leader said she was optimistic her party would pick up Maryborough and Ferny Grove to gain 44 MPs in the 89-seat parliament.

The LNP has 39 seats but is projected to gain 42.

Two other crossbenchers, Katter's Australian Party MPs Rob Katter and Shane Knuth, are yet to announce which party they will support.

A by-election could be called in Ferny Grove after the Palmer United Party candidate was declared ineligible after it was discovered he was bankrupt.
