A man has been arrested after a three-hour siege southwest of Brisbane.

Police were called to McCormack Court, Collingwood Park, on Thursday morning after receiving reports of an armed man.

An emergency was declared and officers set up an exclusion zone around the street.

Police are yet to comment on reports the man armed himself with a large knife and was directing threats at officers while holed up in the property.

He was arrested just before 1pm after members of the force's Special Emergency Response Team and police dogs attended the scene.

Police say nobody was hurt in the incident.
