A man has been charged after a 17-year-old was glassed in the neck during a fight in far north Queensland.

A man will face court next month charged with glassing a teen in the neck during a fight in far north Queensland.

Police say the pair were involved in an altercation in a golf club car park at Weipa on Cape York about 9pm (AEST) on Sunday when one was struck in the face with a glass.

The 17-year-old was taken to Weipa Hospital to be treated for a large cut to his neck.

A 20-year-old local man was charged on Monday with assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear in Weipa Magistrates Court on March 11.
