Qld man 'tortured, tried to kill' victim

A Queensland man is in a critical condition in hospital, after his housemate allegedly tortured and tried to kill him.

A man will face a Queensland court on Monday charged with torturing and trying to murder his housemate.

Police had to perform CPR on the 51-year-old victim, who remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers could not confirm reports the badly injured man was tied up when officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a house at Ipswich, west of Brisbane, on Sunday.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with torture and attempted murder, and a woman is also helping police with their inquiries.

The man is due to front the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, and a crime scene has been established at the home, in the Ipswich suburb of Raceview.
