Qld man's terror-related charge dropped

A charge against a Brisbane man accused of helping to fund terrorist operations overseas has been withdrawn.

Commonwealth prosecutors have dropped a charge of handling the proceeds of crime against a Brisbane man arrested last year as part of an anti-terrorism operation.

No evidence to support the case against Robert Louis Maestracci was presented at a magistrate court hearing this morning.

Mr Maestracci was arrested last September after Australian Federal Police raided the iQraa Islamic Centre at Underwood.

The AFP alleged Mr Maestracci held $7000 in a bank account that could be be used to fund overseas travel to Syria.

Mr Maestracci was not in court for the hearing.

Two other men charged in the AFP operation Omar Succarieh and Agim Kruezi are due to appear in court next week.
