The Queensland government is sending two ministers to Germany for a UNESCO meeting in a bid to keep the Great Barrier Reef off the World Heritage Committee's "in danger" list.
The committee, which is due to unveil a draft decision late on Friday, will meet in Bonn in June to deliver its final ruling on the reef's status.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad and Environment Minister Steven Miles will join federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt in flying to the German city for the meeting.
"We're taking it so seriously that we are sending those two senior ministers over there," a spokeswoman for Ms Trad said.
Apart from being embarrassing, an "in danger" listing would do serious harm to Australia's economy as miners, farmers and tourism operators could face tough restrictions on development.
