Tourists and staff on Hamilton Island are being evacuated after the Whitsunday island's airstrip reopened following Cyclone Debbie.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said evacuations had begun from the island.
On Daydream Island, where people are also stranded, defence force personnel have flown in with food and fuel. They have some capacity to get some people off that island on Thursday, Ms Trad said.
