Halloween turned ugly on the Sunshine Coast when teenage trick-or-treaters were shot in the face with paintball pellets.
Two 15-year-old boys were hit and one sustained an eye injury and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after the incident at Pelican Waters around 7pm on Tuesday.
Shortly after, two teenage boys in a ute were pulled over by police who found Halloween costumes and paint pellets in the vehicle.
A friend of the injured boy's family said the incident "devastated" them.
"The actions last night were nothing short of dangerous and immature," they wrote in a text to the Nine Network.
Witness Stephanie Keenan said it was "silly" thing to do.
"Especially on Halloween, there are kids out - it's ridiculous," she told the Nine network.
Police say they have charged a 17-year-old and 18-year-old with two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Both will appear at Caloundra Magistrates Court on November 22.
