Qld woman chased, tackled by sex predator

A Queensland woman has been chased and tackled to the ground by a man who subjected her to a terrifying sexual attack while she was out walking at night.

A woman has endured a terrifying sex attack after being chased and tackled to the ground during a night-time walk in central Queensland.

Police are still hunting for the man who attacked the 41-year-old victim just after 9pm on Friday.

Officers say the man tried to engage her in conversation but when she walked away, he followed her and grabbed her arm.

She broke free and ran off but the man caught her and tackled her to the ground before sexually assaulting her in grassland adjacent to the Bruce Highway in North Rockhampton.

The woman needed hospital treatment.

Her attacker is described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, 175 centimetres tall and stocky.
