A woman is facing a raft of charges after trying to flee the scene of a Gold Coast car crash by jumping into a nearby river.

A 24-year-old woman has tried to flee from police following a Gold Coast car crash by jumping into a river.

Police said the woman was involved in a fight after four-vehicle crash in Broadbeach on Friday morning, and jumped into a nearby river when officers arrived at the scene.

She was retrieved a short time later, and a search of her car allegedly located drug paraphernalia.

She is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday to face charges including assaulting police.
