Quad bike rider killed in central Qld

A 31-year-old man has died in a quad bike crash in central Queensland on Friday night.

A man has died after the quad bike he was riding crashed into a bridge and then hit by a passing vehicle, police say.

Investigating police believe the 31-year-old man and his bike were collected on Friday night by another vehicle after he had crashed and been propelled into the middle of a bridge in Stonehenge, about 150km from Longreach in central Queensland.

The vehicle rolled but it is believed the driver escaped serious injury, while it is unclear if the quad bike rider was already dead at the time of the second collision.

The forensic crash unit is continuing its investigation.
