Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has announced three debutants in his 25 man squad for the upcoming tour against the Lions.

Former rugby league international Israel Folau earned a spot in the side, an impressive feat in his first year of top flight rugby, alongside Brumbies captain Ben Mowen and team-mate Christian Lealiifano.

There was no room for 38-test flyhalf Quade Cooper, instead Robbie Deans says James O'Connor is his favoured ten despite the Rebels playmaker missing all of the Wallabies test matches last year through injury.

Quade Cooper can still force his way into a gold jersey - with six more players still to be added to the Wallabies squad.
