Quade quiet as Toulon thrashed in Euro Cup

Quade Cooper's Toulon have been on the wrong end of a 32-6 flogging by Wasps in his first match in the European Champions Cup.

Quade Cooper endured a frustrating start to his European Rugby Champions Cup career when his French side Toulon copped a heavy loss to English club Wasps.

Toulon, who have won the past three Champions Cups, were smashed 32-6 in their opening-round fixture in England, with five-eighth Cooper having very little impact.

Fellow Australian George Smith starred for Wasps in the four-try victory over an understrength Toulon, who are still waiting on the return of Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell from the Wallabies' World Cup campaign.

The trouncing comes just a week after Cooper's mixed debut for the club in the French Top 14 league, where he set up a try with a no-look grubber kick, but also threw an intercept pass that led to Toulon conceding their only try in the 52-8 win over Montpellier.
