Quake hits off Indonesia

The US Geological Survey says a 6.0 magnitude earthquake has struck off east Indonesia.

A magnitude 6.0 underwater quake has struck off east Indonesia, but no tsunami warnings have been posted.

The US Geological Survey says the quake occurred early on Sunday local time (0905 AEDT) with its epicentre 222km north-northwest of Samulaki in Indonesia's eastern Maluku province.

USGS says the quake's depth was measured at 117km.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says no tsunami warnings are in effect
