A north Queensland tourist attraction remains under investigation after a man plunged to his death from a rainforest zip line.
Dean Sanderson, 50, was harnessed to wife Shannon, 48, when they fell from the flying fox run by Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours at Cape Tribulation about 2pm on Tuesday.
Witnesses said the zip line "snapped", leaving the South Australian couple hanging before they fell more than 10m to the forest floor.
Mr Sanderson was pronounced dead at the scene while his wife was airlifted to Cairns Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
In a statement released to News Corp Australia, the family thanked emergency services and the Cairns hospital for their support.
"Our family is mourning the tragic loss of our husband, father and great friend Dean Sanderson after an accident at Cape Tribulation in Queensland," it read.
"We remember Dean as a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all."
Phoebe Kitto, a director of Jungle Surfing, has offered her deepest sympathy to the families and friends of those affected by the accident.
"It will be thoroughly investigated by Workplace Health and Safety, which will receive our full co-operation," she said.
"We are offering counselling to staff and to our patrons."
In 2004, an English tourist suffered permanent brain damage after plunging 30m on the same attraction when she was not properly secured in the harness.
Detectives and Workplace Health and Safety officers will prepare reports for the coroner.
