Queensland's Super Rugby rebuild continues with the signing of former St George Illawarra winger Eto Nabuli on a two-year deal.
Nabuli grew up playing rugby union in his homeland of Fiji but has played rugby league in Australia for the last three years - first in the NSW Cup, and this year for the Dragons in the NRL.
The imposing 27-year-old, who stands at 197cm and weighs 108kg, now has the chance to cash in on his potential by returning to a sport he says he knows inside-out.
"My hometown of Sigatoka is known as a rugby town, so it's exciting to be heading back to the sport I grew up with," Nabuli said.
"It will be a big challenge for me, but I will train hard and work hard to earn my place in the team.
"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge."
Nabuli was first spotted by NRL legends Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler while working as a porter in a Fijian hotel nearly four years ago.
After just one season in the NSW Cup he scored 29 tries and was named in the competition's team of the year.
This season Nabuli has scored seven tries in 13 NRL games for the Dragons, most recently in their narrow 11-10 elimination final loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Nabuli will form part of a new-look Reds side next year, following the losses of veterans Will Genia and James Horwill and the likely departure of star five-eighth Quade Cooper.
His signing follows the recruitment of locks Kane Douglas and Caydern Neville while there are rumours Brisbane Broncos winger Daniel Vidot could also switch codes and join Queensland.
