Quick Test demise for Australia

It took less than two hours for South Africa to seal victory on day four of the second Test in Hobart with Australia suffering a collapse of 8-32.

AUSTRALIA'S INEPT DAY FOUR BATTING DISPLAY:

10AM: Australia resumes their second innings at 2-121, trailing South Africa by 120.

10.20AM: In the fifth over of the day, Usman Khawaja flashes at a wide ball on the back foot to be caught behind. Australia 3-129.

10.32AM: Skipper Steve Smith is given out caught behind, but successfully appeals the decision, with replays showing the ball clipped his pad, not his bat. Australia 3-134.

10.44AM: Under-pressure veteran Adam Voges adds two runs before embarrassingly directing a short ball he attempted to leave straight to gully. Australia 4-135.

10.58AM: Debutant Callum Ferguson follows in similar fashion to Voges, having attempted to sway out of the way of the ball only for the delivery to jag in and catch his glove on the way through to the slips. Australia 5-140.

11.19AM: Australia reaches 150 from 233 deliveries, but remains 91 runs away from making South Africa bat again.

11.21AM: Peter Nevill fails to cope with a bouncer just outside off, fending the ball to third slip with the Aussie keeper adding six runs to the side's sad total. Australia 6-150.

11.25AM: Debutant Joe Mennie falls in the same over, lbw to a low full toss for a second ball duck. Even a DRS referral can't save him, with 'umpire's call' verdict coming up for a ball which clipping leg stump. 7-150.

11.32AM: Australia's sole shining light in the first innings, skipper Steve Smith, is eighth man out for 26 after tentatively prodding at a delivery outside off stump to be caught behind. Australia 8-151.

11.45AM: Mitchell Starc offers little resistance with the bat, edging a ball to be caught behind. The collapse is now 7-22 from 17.4 overs. Australia 9-151.

11.53AM: South Africa seal their Test series victory with the wicket of Nathan Lyon, who after producing an off-drive for four, spoons a catch to mid-on. The sorry demise in summary: 8-32 from 19.2 overs. Australia all out for 161. South Africa win by an innings and 80 runs.
