Hard work pays off - South Sydney can attest to that.
Six wins from their past eight games have the Rabbitohs into fourth spot ahead of Saturday night's NRL clash with the Warriors in Perth.
Their strong recent form is in stark contrast to the start of the year, when a three-game losing streak left pundits wondering whether the Rabbitohs could mount a premiership charge.
Star forward Sam Burgess said the group fixed their early-season woes by producing a greater intensity in the lead-up to games.
"We fixed our training up a little bit more. We're training a bit harder, and it's transferred onto the field for us," Burgess said after touching down in Perth on Thursday.
"Games are won and lost on mindset. If someone turns up with the wrong attitude, you lose the game. It's as simple as that."
The Rabbitohs will need to use every bit of their mind power this week as they attempt to overcome the effects of a long trip to Perth on the back of just a five-day turnaround.
The Warriors have had an extra day to prepare, but their travel burden has been even larger.
Burgess said although the longer travel was a challenge, players knew how to overcome the effects.
"It is tough to get your body ready. But it's not too bad," Burgess said.
"The flight's about four and a half hours. I'm from England, so it's a breeze for me."
South Sydney beat the Warriors 30-13 in Perth last year.
And with sunny days forecast for the rest of the week, Burgess and his teammates have been looking forward to their trip west.
"We've always been pretty successful in Perth, so it's good to be back," Burgess said.
"I like it around here. It's warmer than Sydney at this time of year as well. It's good to get away and have a bit of a team trip as well."
