South Sydney's dream of back-to-back premierships will go on the line when skipper Greg Inglis goes in for scans on his troublesome right knee.
The Rabbitohs star left ANZ Stadium on crutches after limping off the field late in Friday night's heavy 32-18 loss to Canterbury.
Inglis fell awkwardly in a regulation tackle late in the second half, aggravating a knee injury that has bothered him for most of the year.
He attempted to play on but hobbled from the field after Bulldogs second-rower Shaun Lane sealed the win in the 68th minute.
Coach Michael Maguire remained positive after the match, saying he would wait on the results of Saturday's x-rays.
"Greg's pretty positive there, but the medical staff are going to put him on crutches just to make sure," he said.
"We won't know until the scan tomorrow.
"He's just aggravated what he's had a little bit more than what he's had in the past.
"So we'll just have to see from there."
Maguire was confident his fullback would be available when the defending premiers face competition leaders Brisbane in yet another blockbuster match-up next Thursday.
"I'll see how he is. But at the moment, in my mind and in his mind, he'll be playing on Thursday," he said.
Despite showing signs of pain in his knee at various times this year, Inglis denied being bothered by an injury in June.
"My body has been healthy and fine. I'm not carrying any injuries or anything. More just a little bit run down at times," he said at the time.
