The company behind the Triple M and 2DayFM radio networks has struck a $3 million share distribution deal with its stars.

Southern Cross Austereo will distribute about 3.35 million shares across an unspecified number of contracts.

The company said shares issued to some contractors would be worth in total at least $2 million.

Others would receive shares worth at least $1.14 million.

Southern Cross's executive director of metro operations Guy Dobson would not comment on individual contracts, saying every one was unique.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Southern Cross said it believed the issue of shares to its radio stars provided an "out-performance incentive".

The company also announced personalities Hamish Blake and Andy Lee will return to 2DayFM's national drive slot from July 2015.

Shares in Southern Cross closed 10.5 cents, or 12.88 per cent, higher at 92 cents.
