Raider Soliola out for rest of NRL season

Canberra forward Sia Soliola has been ruled out for the rest of the NRL season with a fractured cheekbone, while Josh Hodgson will miss up to two weeks.

Canberra's bid for an NRL finals berth has been dealt a huge blow, with Sia Soliola out for the season and Josh Hodgson sidelined for up to two weeks.

The Raiders, currently one win outside the top eight in 10th, will also be without winger Edrick Lee for next Monday's clash with Wests Tigers after copping a suspension.

The club on Monday confirmed Soliola had fractured his cheekbone early in the second half of Saturday's loss to North Queensland.

The damaging back-rower, who played on with the injury, will sit out the remaining five games but could potentially return for the playoffs if the Raiders qualify.

The news was more favourable for Hodgson, who is set to be sidelined for only one to two weeks with an ankle injury suffered in the 43rd minute against the Cowboys.

Hodgson has been a key cog for the Green Machine this season, with the English international combining well with halves Blake Austin and Sam Williams.

It's likely he'll be replaced in the starting side by Kurt Baptiste, who's filled the No.9 role off the bench for most of the year, with Josh McCrone and Glen Buttriss also options.

Meanwhile, Sisa Waqa remains sidelined with a minor knee injury but is slated to return in round 23 for their clash with Manly.

Lee's early guilty plea to a grade-two tripping charge on Cowboy Justin O'Neill has rubbed him out of next round's home game against the Tigers.

Star playmaker Austin also took the early plea after being cited for a dangerous throw, but will be free to play at GIO Stadium.
