Canberra may have found the player who will allow Jack Wighton to switch from fullback to five-eighth.
Wighton has made the Raiders' No.1 jersey his own during the past four NRL seasons but former Warrior Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has stepped into the frame to replace him.
The Raiders on Friday confirmed Nicoll-Klokstad's signing and the versatile 23-year-old has made his intentions clear about his ideal position.
"I'm looking to play at fullback, however any position in the NRL I would be grateful for," Nicoll-Klokstad said.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has been toying with the idea of swapping Wighton to partner Aidan Sezer in the halves following the departure of Blake Austin.
Since returning to training following his 10-game ban by the NRL at the end of last season for assaulting five men, Wighton has been training with the halves.
Young gun Nick Cotric had shaped as a contender to move to fullback but Stuart is reluctant to shift him with fellow star winger Jordan Rapana out injured for the first half of the season.
Winger Michael Oldfield and Bulldogs recruit Brad Abbey are in the mix but Nicoll-Klokstad's inclusion could see him leapfrog both.
Nicoll-Klokstad made his NRL debut in 2017 for the Warriors, impressing with seven tries from seven games as a winger.
But he didn't feature at all for the Kiwi club last year after being stuck behind David Fusitua and Ken Maumalo.
