Rail line death not suspicious: Vic police

Police say the death of a man found near a Melbourne train line is not being treated as suspicious after the discovery of the burnt body.

The death of a man whose burnt body was found in a Melbourne park is not suspicious, police say.

The man was found by a passer-by on a grass embankment near a train line in Alma Park East at St Kilda about 6.30am (AEST) on Monday.

The body was burnt and a container of accelerant was found nearby, police said.

Trains on the Sandringham line were suspended between South Yarra and Elsternwick while police investigated.
