Rain delays French Open tennis quarters

Quarter-final action at the French Open has been delayed by heavy rain affecting top players including Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and David Ferrer.

Heavy rain delayed the start of quarter-final action on Wednesday at the French Open.

Organisers said play which had been scheduled to start at 1200GMT (2200 AEST) would not get under way before 1345GMT (2345 AEST) at the earliest.

On Court Philippe Chatrier, Italian Sara Errani was due to face Germany's Andrea Petkovic followed by Andy Murray's clash with Frenchman Gael Monfils.

On Court Suzanne Lenglen, Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia was scheduled to face Romanian Simona Halep followed by eight-time champion Rafael Nadal against fellow Spaniard David Ferrer.
