Rain postpones WTA semi-finals in US

Rain cut short the semi-final action at the WTA tournament in South Carolina.

It will be a jam-packed finish for the WTA event in South Carolina on Sunday after Saturday's semi-finals were postponed because of rain.

Organisers called a halt to a soggy Saturday after several weather delays.

German fifth seed Julia Goerges and eighth-seeded Latvian Anastasija Sevastova began their opening set and were tied at 4-4 when the match was postponed.

The schedule Sunday calls for American seventh seed Madison Keys to play Dutch 12th seed Kiki Bertens before the conclusion of the Goerges-Sevastova match.

After the doubles finals, the semi-final winners will compete for the title at the WTA's first clay-court tournament of the season.
