Rankine to tour as Suns debut nears

Talented forward Izak Rankine will travel to Perth with the Gold Coast to gain valuable inner sanctum exposure ahead of his NEAFL return from injury.

Exciting rookie Izak Rankine will travel with Gold Coast to Perth for an acclimatisation exercise ahead of his NEAFL return next week.

No.3 draft pick Rankine showed plenty in the pre-season before a hamstring injury delayed a potential AFL debut with the Suns in the first round.

He has been cleared for a return and will suit up in the NEAFL next weekend, but not before playing water boy in Perth where the side faces defending champions West Coast on Saturday.

"The plan will be to get back in, play as well as he can and put his name up," Dew said.

"He's unrestricted as of last week, so we're all looking forward to seeing him play footy.

"He's got some stuff and we'll see how he transfers that into games."

Fellow small forward Sean Lemmens (ankle) will also return via the NEAFL, while Lachie Weller and Richmond recruit Corey Ellis are also close to a return.

"We've got some (speed in the forward line); they're just out of the side at the moment," he said of Lemmens and Rankine.

Pearce Hanley (shin bruising) won't play against West Coast, but Wil Powell will after missing two games with concussion.
