Thieves have stolen four limited-edition Chanel handbags from a Melbourne home along with jewellery and money.

Thieves have stolen four rare Chanel handbags from a home in Melbourne.

Police say the burglars broke into the Mont Albert North home on December 12, ransacked every room and stole jewellery, foreign money and the limited-edition bags.

One of the bags, the Chanel Melbourne edition, is one of only 19 ever made.

The other three bags are one of only five sold in Melbourne, police say.
