A fishing crew off the coast of Florida have made a rare discovery after accidentally pulling up an incredibly rare goblin shark.
The crew, who were fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, said they had a net down more than 600 metres but were shocked to see the shark thrashing among their usual catch.
"I didn't even know what it was," fisherman Carl Moore told the Houston Chronicle. "I didn't get the tape measure out because that thing's got some wicked teeth, they could do some damage."
The crew threw the shark back into the water, after taking a few pictures and reported the finding to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The goblin shark is an incredibly rare type of shark that has normally been spotted around the coastline of Japan and in the Indian Ocean.
The shark is believed to live in the deepest areas of the ocean and isn't often spotted by humans.
