Rebels rest ahead of Blues clash

The Melbourne Rebels are on light duties as they prepare to host the Blues on Friday, backing up after three big Super Rugby games.

Melbourne Rebels coach Tony McGahan says his battle-weary team are on light duties ahead of their Super Rugby clash with the Blues on Friday night.

The Rebels are hosting the Blues after taking on the Brumbies and Waratahs away in the wet, and then edging out the fourth-placed Chiefs last Saturday night.

"It's been a big three weeks for us and last week's game was hugely physical," McGahan said.

"We've adjusted our schedule so the players are fresh and looking forward to the game."

Flanker Sean McMahon is available for selection for the AAMI Park contest after recovering from a hip injury sustained against the Chiefs, as is fullback Mike Harris (leg) who was a late withdrawal ahead of that match.
