Melbourne coach Tony McGahan says the Rebels will approach their clash with the Lions like they're facing their Super Rugby bogey side.
After some impressive performances to open the season, including last round's gritty 21-17 win over the Western Force in Perth, the Rebels return home to AAMI Park on Friday night.
On paper they should make short work of the South African visitors, who have only had one win, but McGahan said there were no easy matches for his team.
"The easy thing for us is that we don't have the ability to ease off at any point and every game is a danger game for us," McGahan said.
"Other sides who are travelling really well and consistently over a period of time, they have those opportunities to look down and look out for bogey sides.
"It's easy for us - every side is a bogey side for us."
The Rebels are hopeful of taking an unchanged side into the match, with lock Lopeti Timani (concussion) and five-eighth Jack Debreczeni (knee) set to line up.
Debreczeni's right leg was heavily strapped for training on Wednesday but McGahan said he and Timani would be given every chance to prove their fitness.
If Debreczeni is ruled out, Mike Harris is likely to move to 10 with Bryce Hegarty the new fullback while lock Steve Cummins could come off the bench for his first Super start.
McGahan said the lack of serious injuries had been a bonus for his team and they needed to make the most of the stability while it lasted.
"Our turn will come, everyone gets their turn during the season so you've just got to get through it," he said.
