Recommendations from Dutton au pair report

A Senate inquiry report into Peter Dutton's granting of visas to two au pairs has made three key recommendations.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF DUTTON AU PAIR REPORT:

* Require statements on ministerial interventions in immigration cases to declare whether or not each intervention was made in accordance with the ministerial guidelines.

* The Senate consider censuring Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton for the actions examined in the report, for failing to observe fairness in making official decisions as required by the Statement of Ministerial Standards.

* That the minister representing Mr Dutton in the Senate provide, within three sitting days, an explanation to the Senate responding to the matters raised in this report.
