As the Philippines continues to recover following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, climate scientists have linked the super storm to warming global temperatures.

And they say, similar events will continue to occur, with calls for more action by governments on climate change.

But questions have also been raised about the appropriateness of such conversations, particularly following the loss of more than 4000 lives and up to 4.4 million people being displaced.

Dr Maarten van Aalst is the head of the Red Cross/Red Crescent's Climate Centre and currently visiting Australia.

Dr van Aalst has told Santilla Chingaipe, that it's important to talk about climate change in light of the recent events in the Philippines to help better prevent them and find out what's causing them.
