Redraw abolishes seat for Labor's Butler

A federal redistribution has axed the seat of Port Adelaide, meaning Labor MP Mark Butler must find another electorate in which to stand.

Federal Labor frontbencher Mark Butler will have to find a new seat after a redistribution abolished the electorate of Port Adelaide.

South Australia will go from 11 to 10 seats due to national population shifts.

As well, the previous seat of Wakefield will become Spence, named after voting system reformer Catherine Helen Spence.

A by-election in the South Australian seat of Mayo will still be held on the 2016 boundaries.
