Regional Vic big winner in tourism cash

Federal government tourism cash will help Bendigo build a new airport runway and the Grampians national park set up a 144 kilometre hiking trail.

Regional Victoria has proved the biggest winner in the first allocation of a national tourism money pot.

Among the eight Victorian projects set to receive a federal government cash injection is Bendigo which will build a new runway at its airport, while a 144km hiking trail will be built in the Grampians National Park, in the state's west.

Two projects each in Tasmania and Western Australia also received financial support.
