Regis Resources has asked for trading of its shares to be halted ahead of an announcement about weather impacting on a WA mine.

Shares in gold miner Regis Resources have been halted from trade ahead of an announcement regarding one of its mines.

Regis said it was preparing to make a statement regarding a weather event affecting operations at its Duketon gold project in central Western Australia.

The region has received heavy rainfall in recent weeks.

Regis shares last traded at $3.09.
