Independent senator Jacqui Lambie is unapologetic that her call for parents to get the power to force ice addicted children into rehabilitation is confronting.

"People have accused me of ignoring civil liberties, of jumping to punitive measures too quickly," she wrote in an opinion piece for the Hobart Mercury, following her public revelations about her 21-year-old son's ice habit.

But Senator Lambie says involuntary detox will get addicts to a point where professionals are "dealing with a human again not a drug".
