Renewed concerns over children in detention

The President of the Australian Human Rights Commission says child asylum seekers are regressing psychologically as a result of their detention.

The Commission has been taking submissions on the conditions for child detainees on the Australian mainland and Christmas Island.

It was blocked from visiting Nauru because its jurisdiction does not extend beyond Australia's borders.

Thea Cowie spoke with Commission president Gillian Triggs about the progress of the inquiry.
