Rescue continues for injured Vic skier

An injured skier is being carried off Victoria's highest mountain by paramedics and search and rescue police in freezing weather.

A man injured in a skiing accident on Victoria's highest mountain still has a long way to go before he's in the safety and warmth of an ambulance.

The man, aged in his 40s, has already spent a frosty night trapped in snow on Mount Bogong with a hip injury after bad weather prevented the ambulance helicopter from reaching him.

Paramedics and Victoria Police search and rescue personnel reached the man on Wednesday morning after an overnight hike in freezing conditions.

They are carrying the man down the mountain and expect to transfer him to a waiting ambulance around 11pm on Wednesday, police say.
