Retiree freed after Bali bar stabbing

A Scottish ex-serviceman, stabbed in a Kuta bar earlier this month, has withdrawn his complaint against a Melbourne retiree, whom police have released.

An Australian retiree who was locked up in Bali after a pub fight has been released.

Norman Leslie John Polson spent his 79th birthday in the Denpasar police cells after stabbing Scotsman Alistair Sutherland in the arm, during an incident earlier this month where they traded insults in a Kuta bar.

Kuta chief detective Ewa Tagel Wijasa says Mr Sutherland and his lawyer withdrew their complaint and the case was closed, adding: "maybe the victim realised the suspect was an old man".
