Retiring Moore gets one last Test at home

Wallabies assistant coach Mario Ledesma says former skipper Stephen Moore will get the Test farewell he deserves on Saturday night.

Former Wallabies skipper Stephen Moore will be given the chance to say a proper goodbye to Test rugby in his hometown on Saturday night.

The third Bledisloe Cup clash at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane will be Moore's last Test match on home soil, with the 34-year-old set to retire from international rugby at the end of the year.

Moore will be involved, either off the bench or from the start.

While there is a clear need for Australia to continue giving gametime to promising young hookers like Jordan Uelese, outgoing assistant coach Mario Ledesma said recognising the "legacy" of one of the game's most dependable servants was just as important.

"It's his last game over here in Australia against the All Blacks and what better farewell for Stephen then to come out in front of his hometown and win against the All Blacks," Ledesma said.

"I cannot imagine a better finish and he really deserves it.

"He's been serving the country and the gold jersey for a long, long time now and to be 34 (years old) after 124 Tests and being still an important part of the Wallabies is a huge, huge achievement.

"And we'll do everything to give him a good farewell - and not only us, but the players and the public should be thinking about the same thing.

"In rugby, that's important. Legacy is important and giving that to Stephen is important too."

Moore is expected to go on Australia's end-of-year European tour and will play one more season of Super Rugby with the Queensland Reds before hanging up the boots for good.

He became the 10th-most capped rugby international of all time earlier this year.
