Revenge inspires new graphic novel

The story behind Revenge protagonist Emily Thorne will be told in a new graphic novel, to hit the book shelves in September.

Actress Emily Vancamp's character on the popular TV drama Revenge is becoming the star of a new graphic novel.

ABC network bosses have teamed with Marvel Comics to create Revenge: The Secret Origin of Emily Thorne.

The novel will be a prequel to the hit TV show in which 19-year-old Thorne is sent on her first mission as a vigilante in Switzerland.

"The parts of the history we're bursting to tell is the origin of the woman you see that shows up in the pilot, as differentiated from the girl who was thrown into (juvenile detention) when her dad was taken from her," Revenge executive producer Sunil Nayer told USA Today.

The book will be released in September.

* Revenge is shown in Australia on the Seven Network.
