Regional and rural Australians will be asked for their views on the adequacy of telecommunication services.

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Tuesday appointed a committee to undertake the 2015 regional review, which will consider the national broadband network and the government's mobile black spot program.

Public submissions will soon be sought, with the committee to report back by August 23.

The National Farmers Federation said it was a good opportunity for rural residents to voice their needs for digital infrastructure which could help boost farm productivity.

"We need more farms connected to high-quality telecommunications services," NFF President Brent Finlay said in a statement.
