David Reynolds will drive a Mercedes in next season's V8 Supercars championship, signing for Erebus Motorsport on the same day he was released from his Prodrive Racing team.
The signing is a coup for Betty Klimenko's team, with 30-year-old Reynolds about to complete his best Supercars season to date.
Reynolds, who won pole position at the Bathurst 1000, is sitting third in the 2015 standings with two race wins this season and four top-10 finishes through the endurance section.
"Although I have had a terrific four years at PRA, I am looking forward to a positive change as the lead driver with Erebus, Reynolds said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Together we have some amazing strengths that we need to harness, I know we can win together."
The Mercedes team has a seat available owing to Will Davison's move to the Tekno garage, vacated by Shane Van Gisbergen's shift to a three-car Triple Eight garage in 2016.
While no announcement has been made, young gun Cameron Waters, 21, is tipped to take over Reynolds' seat in the No.55 Falcon.
Waters partnered with Chaz Mostert through the No.6 car's turbulent Enduro Cup this year, earning strong reviews.
Prodrive thanked Reynolds for his four years in their Ford car.
