Rib injury rules McCaw out of Super Rugby

All Blacks captain and Crusaders flanker Richie McCaw will miss the next three weeks of Super Rugby after damaging ribs in the Test series against England.

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw will miss at least the next three weeks of Super Rugby after damaging ribs in the three-Test series against England.

McCaw suffered the injury in the first or second Test, New Zealand coach Steve Hansen told Radio Sport.

It is possible McCaw won't return to the Crusaders until the Super Rugby playoffs which begin on July 19.

The Crusaders, who play the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday, are third overall and top of the New Zealand conference on 41 points, three ahead of the Highlanders. The Hurricanes are third on 37 points.
