Daniel Ricciardo doesn't believe in much - but if karma does exist, he hopes it plays are part in this weekend's Singapore Formula One Grand Prix.
The Australian has pointed to the famed night race all season as his best shot at victory, particularly after his near-win at the Monaco GP in May.
A botched pitstop denied Ricciardo an almost-certain fourth career triumph, handing Mercedes' reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton the lead and win.
"I don't believe in much, but if there is a little bit of karma or whatever, I'd like to think I will get my Monaco win back somewhere and Singapore is a track which I will look to," he said.
"I don't expect to be handed a victory, absolutely not, but I feel if I work very well across that weekend then it should provide me with a chance."
Ricciardo showed in Monte Carlo the potential of his Red Bull car, which has improved pace-wise since.
He has scored three podium finishes in his last four races - his most recent result a fifth-place at the Italian GP earlier this month.
The Singapore street circuit, which demands high downforce and low speed, suits his RB12 and has proved fruitful in the past - having finished third in 2014 and second in 2015.
Runaway leaders Mercedes struggled last year, with eventual title-winner Hamilton crossing in fifth and teammate Nico Rosberg sixth.
Whether or not they've resolved those issues, Ricciardo is confident Red Bull will still be close to the front this time around.
"I think we've got a better package this year than we did last year," he said.
"Last year we pretty much fought for a victory, so looking at that I think that we should be there.
"Mercedes, if they're able to solve their issues from last year, then of course they'll be the ones to beat. Even if they're quick I think we'll still be like Monaco, we can still be very close to them."
