Ricciardo takes pole position at Monaco

Australia's Daniel Ricciardo will take pole position for the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo will take pole position for Sunday's Monaco Formula One Grand Prix after an action-packed qualifying session.

The Australian will be followed on the grid by championship leader Nico Rosberg, whose Mercedes team mate and world champion Lewis Hamilton suffered an engine problem and only qualified third.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was fourth.

Qualifying was held up twice, first when Felipe Nasr's Sauber started spewing smoke from the back and later when Red Bull's Max Verstappen, shock winner last time in Spain, crashed out to mean he qualified only 21st.
