Richmond's Aaron Edwards has been offered a reprimand by the match-review panel for striking Melbourne's Bernie Vince, the AFL announced on Tuesday.

Edwards has been charged with a level-one striking offence carrying a penalty of 80 demerit points, following the third-quarter incident in last Friday night's pre-season game at Etihad Stadium.

The player's six-year good record reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 60 points and a reprimand. An early plea would shave off another 20 points to 40 points.

Edwards' clash with Vince was assessed as reckless conduct, low impact and body contact.

Carlton onballer Brock McLean can accept a $1950 fine for making reckless contact with an umpire during the third quarter of Saturday's game against North Melbourne in Ballarat.

A first offence is a $2600 sanction, which can be reduced by 25 per cent to a $1950 sanction with an early guilty plea.

The AFL's pre-season competition opened last week, with each club playing two matches over an 18-day period.

The Tigers will face Collingwood in Wangaratta on Saturday, while Carlton's next game is against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Monday night.
