St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt has been named the club's best and fairest player, claiming the Trevor Barker Award for the sixth time.

The 31-year-old captain, who won the award in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009, took the 2014 crown ahead of retiring veteran Lenny Hayes and defender Sean Dempster.

His sixth best and fairest victory puts him two awards in front of any other Saint in history.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson said the award was a tribute to Riewoldt's leadership this season.

"It's one thing for him to perform well, but it's the performance and the uplift of others that will get us heading in the right direction. He's been a real driver in that space," Richardson said in a statement on Friday.

In other awards, Luke Dunstan was named the most promising player, Sam Gilbert received the Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award, and Luke Delaney the Players Trademark Award.

Meanwhile, at Adelaide Daniel Talia won his first Malcolm Blight Medal at the Crows club champion presentation.

The defender had shared the lead with Patrick Dangerfield going into the final round, but his efforts against Riewoldt in Round 23 gave him enough votes to top the poll.

Only nine votes separated the Crows' top five, which also included Rory Sloane, Brodie Smith and Sam Jacobs.

Other winners on Friday included Sloane, who was named the most valuable player; Taylor Walker, who received the Best Team Man Award; and Ian Callinan, judged the best and fairest player.
